I am a chartered accountant, qualified in 1981. Since 1999 I have specialised in helping businesses by providing them with the right people to help on a project or permanent basis.

Throughout my career, I have always enjoyed meeting new businesses and finding out about the challenges they are facing.

Career history

2008 to 2010:       Client Services Director, Brooklands Executives, London EC1.

Specialised in businesses in the City of London and closeby, focussing on the banking and financial services sector in particular regulation and compliance issues. Assignments included major global banks, foreign exchange dealing, and insurance services.


2005 to 2008:       Head of Practice, AshtonPenney, London EC3

AshtonPenney provided interim managers to commerce and the public sector for over ten years, and listed on AIM in September 2005.

SM-J was responsible for building the Media & Leisure Practice and also working with commercial businesses to identify opportunities for interims to help with financial management issues across sectors.A wide range of clients included AIM quoted companies, financial services, stockbroking, insurance, and charities.


1999 to 2005:       Director, Inter.People Limited, London W1.

IPL delivered interim financial management services to SMEs by providing experienced accountants on a project basis, as well as directly helping small and start-up businesses develop. The services ranged from simple bookkeeping and accounts preparation, to senior financial managers and strategists who help larger companies focus on growth opportunities.

Electronics distributor, St Albans: part-time Financial Controller preparing management accounts, statutory accounts, business plans and cash flows, and advising the Board.

CAD and prototype design company, Welwyn Garden City: part-time Financial Controller preparing management accounts, business plans and cash flows, and advising the Board closely on the continued solvency of the company and rescue options.

Electronics distributor, Harlow: Financial Controller responsible for the smooth closure of a subsidiary of a quoted plc, including disposal of assets and staff redundancy programmes.

1976 - 1981       ACA in 1981 after training in London with Mann Judd/ Deloitte & Touche and then post qualification experience gained with Coopers & Lybrand in audit with medium sized companies.
